Splurged
I finally got it. I bought the quilt from Anthropologie that I've been drooling over for two years. Not only that, but I got the shams as well. I also got a throw rug. I have all the pictures for all these on my camera, but it doesnt seem to work when i connect the SD card to my computer so this picture will have to suffice for now:
Amazing isnt it? Got it for 50 dollars off because it was on display in the store for awhile so it needed to be cleaned. So worth it. LUVLY. So worth being single right now and decorating the way that I want in my apartment. My bed is girly. And I can get away with it! Its also comfy...so suck on that Miles Davis!
By the way, found this picture of Zooey Deschanel's hair/outfit and loved it. I keep having dreams with her in them. I feel like I know her personally now, incredibly weird and unsettling.

I love candles
I spent $15.00 today on three candles. Wait, no four candles. Why? Because they were on sale. Woe to me and my terrible spending habits!! But I gotta say they make the apartment look so cozy and homey.
I'm pretty sure if i burn down the place it won't be so homey, but at least it will have a fire smell to it...because that was one of the candle smells i was looking into buying. Buuuuut it was a liiiiittle too funky smelling. I passed.
Don't like your apartment? Light a candle and see the atmosphere change like MAGIC! :)

Now i must be excused to make dinner for Jarod...he comes at 6: 30 and I'm going to make this recipe. Looks easy enough:
Bratwurst Stew
6 bratwurst
2 tbsp. shortening
4 med. potatoes, cubed
1 med. onion, chopped
1 (15 oz.) can green beans
1 can cream of mushroom or cream of celery soup
1 c. milk
1 c. Cheddar cheese, grated
2 tbsp. shortening
4 med. potatoes, cubed
1 med. onion, chopped
1 (15 oz.) can green beans
1 can cream of mushroom or cream of celery soup
1 c. milk
1 c. Cheddar cheese, grated
Cut brats into 1/2 inch pieces. Brown in melted shortening in large skillet or Dutch oven. When nicely browned, add potatoes, onion, undiluted soup and milk. Mix well. Cover and cook over low heat for about 30 minutes or until potatoes are done. Before removing from heat, add drained green beans and cheese. Bring just to a boil and let simmer until beans are heated and the cheese is nicely melted and blended into the stew. (You may use polish sausage instead of brats, in which case, no shortening is needed for browning.) Chopped pimento adds color to the stew and is good with either choice of meat.
And I shall cook it to this amazing song i heard on the Bon Iver Pandora station:

Wanna hear Michelle and I sing?
Michelle and I got together this Holiday season and recorded a few songs. They are very rough because they were on a Mac, but I think it sounds pretty good. The whole reasoning behind it was because I wanted to give my grandma a CD of me singing for Christmas....last year. Lol. Only now am I getting it done (Its more complicated than you think!) Anyways, I uploaded this one to YouTube so others could hear it, and I put pictures from Master's Commission (my first year) up. Enjoy!!

Chill out!
Do you ever wonder if we take this life too seriously? I often catch my self freaking out or making a big fuss if something doesn't go my way or go just right. Like, if I'm planning on going somewhere and its changed last minute on me, or even something big changes in my life. I think I need to tell myself, "What's the big deal?" The circumstance might actually open up a different opportunity up that wouldn't have been open to me previously.
Maybe that's why I like "The Office" so much.
Laugh often. Life life to the fullest. As much as you can live at peace with people around you...don't argue. Even if you are right, if the person won't listen, what use is it to argue with them, other than to make yourself upset. Just shut your mouth and be satisfied to know that you are right.
Love others. Live selflessly. Put others before you. You really can't go wrong with these things. You feel better, and make others feel better. Killing with kindness really does work.
I'm so ready to relax this Fall, take in nature. The leaves change so fast. The colors are here and they're gone in the blink of an eye. I'm going to go on a walk, and come back in for a warm cup of cocoa. See ya.

Fail cake
So, I obtained a cookbook awhile back called "Chicken and Egg." Pretty much every recipe i've made from it has been a success. I recently got another cook book from Anthropologie. Its called "Seasons:The best of Donna Hay magazine." It has a lot more recipes but the only thing i've made so far from it was an epic fail. A cake, called the "Honey-cream sponge cake." I made it for Jarod, and even he said it was pretty terrible, the first I've ever heard badly from him. He said it tasted like "cornbread soaked with honey." Stink.
The Cake of Infamy
My failed attempt at the cake of infamy
And here is the cook, along with her new apron. Also from anthropologie. The cook happens to like that store!
So although I hope to get better at cooking, I think its a good thing to post my mistakes, as well as my victories. It this way, you all may know that I am still human, and not a goddess, though I know that it is very hard to believe. ;)
Happy Cooking this fall season! Stab a pumpkin!!
